How to use this FAQ hub

Sir, We Have an Orc Problem generates the same questions every launch week: when does Steam unlock, what does it cost, is it an idle game, are Flamethrowers broken, and will there be endless mode. This hub answers those with links into deeper guides. For systems detail open How to Play; for hardware open System Requirements; for patches open Patch Notes.

Release and store unlock

When does the full game unlock? Steam lists July 28, 2026. Storefronts may still show a countdown for some regions earlier in that calendar day. Wishlist the Steam app page (4594150) for the push notification the moment purchase unlocks.

Is the demo still available? Yes - Steam continues to list a demo download even as the full release goes live. Demo veterans should read Demo vs Full Game before assuming every node and map carried over unchanged.

What is the price? As of launch week, public key trackers still showed no confirmed storefront price. Check the Steam buy button after unlock rather than third-party guesses. This wiki will not invent a number.

Genre and length

Is this an idle game or a tower defense? Both arguments appear on Steam forums. The truthful answer: it is an incremental tower defense. You place towers, time abilities, and rebuild chokes, but permanent meta currency from wins and losses creates the retry loop idle fans recognise. See Getting Started and Economy and Meta.

How long is the campaign? Mumpitz Games targets roughly four to six hours for a full clear, with optional farming to finish the upgrade tree. That is not an endless live-service grind - it is a short focused campaign.

Can I play with a friend? No. Store features and official messaging list single-player only.

Flamethrower balance

Are Flamethrowers overpowered? Community threads swing hard both ways. Players who funnel every orc through flame cones report millions of burn damage; players who compare Damage Statistics on narrow chokes often see Cannons and Mortars out-damage flames. June demo patches made ticks more reliable but lowered tick damage. Practical guidance: Flamethrower, Flamethrower Strategy, and Tips and Tricks.

Progression systems

Do failed runs still progress? Yes. Meta currency funds the tree whether you clear or leak. Farm etiquette changed for flat Bonus Resources - finish the run to collect the flat payout. Details: Bonus Resources.

What are Headhunter, Power Shot, and Damage Statistics? Demo combat nodes that carried into the full release conversation. Damage Statistics is a readout, not a damage buff. See Combat Upgrades.

Should I surrender farm runs? Only if you understand Bonus Resources rules. Flat bonus needs a finished battle; scaling Bonus Resources 2 can still pay on surrender per June notes.

Maps, modes, and requests

Is there endless mode? Players frequently request it. As of launch-week public notes, the marketed product is a finite 4-6 hour campaign with more maps and towers than the demo - not a confirmed endless mode. Treat forum wishlists as feedback, not shipped features.

Will there be a map editor / community maps? Suggested on forums; not announced as a shipping feature in official Steam news summarised on our Updates Hub.

Why does Level 5 feel like a wall? Demo and playtest cycles called out levels 4-5 for scaling work, and a June patch polished Level 5 visuals. Use Level 5 Walkthrough and tower-only automation goals before dumping only HP upgrades.

Technical FAQ

The game does not start - what now? Confirm Vulkan 1.3 drivers, 4 GB free RAM headroom, and updated GPU drivers. Full checklist: Troubleshooting and System Requirements.

Steam Deck / Linux? SteamOS 3.8-class entries are on the store. Expect Vulkan requirements identical to desktop Linux.

Accessibility? Steam lists Camera Comfort, Custom Volume Controls, Mouse Only Option, and Playable without Timed Input. See Controls.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Sir, We Have an Orc Problem out on Steam?

Steam lists July 28, 2026 as the release date. Wishlist the store page if your region still shows a countdown earlier that day.

Is there an endless mode?

Not confirmed in official launch marketing. The stated product is a roughly four-to-six-hour campaign with more content than the demo.

Why do people say Flamethrowers are OP?

Wide fronts that force every orc through fire inflate burn totals. Narrow chokes often favour Cannons and Mortars - check Damage Statistics.
